The Most Pleasant Brunch: Medina of Vancouver

Why had no one ever told me how peaceful Vancouver was? Not to mention, I don’t know when I will get back to this place but, I must. And I stopped at its well-known breakfast spot- Medina, with the most delightful waffles and decadent coffees. Georgia Straight voted Medina as the best of Vancouver 5 years in a row among other awards I eyed in the restaurant. Liege-style waffles are their claim to fame. White chocolate pistachio rosewater is actually a flavor. And no it’s not too much. Actually, It’s just right as a glaze to have with your waffle I’ve never had flavors married together so seamlessly like this…

    A Rebbl with a Cause

Sometimes I am running late out of the door or can use a snack throughout the day. I don’t drink dairy and when I am fasting, I have very strict dietary restrictions. This plant-based elixir I found is my new favorite treat. These Rebbl drinks are made by a company with a cause with was just an added bonus. The flavors I tried were Relishi Chocolate, Cold Brew Coffee protein, Schizandra Berries & Creme, and 3 Root Mango Spice. The only one that wasn’t my favorite was the cold brew coffee and that’s because I have very particular coffee standards being from New Orleans, but everything else was delicious! The Reishi…

    Atchafalaya: A Hidden Gem

I know the name looks funny but, Atchafalaya (Uh-cha-fuh-lie-uh) is a local favorite that never disappoints. Nestled in the Irish Channel. This little, old time store turned restaurant is good breakfast lunch or dinner. Brunch: Shrimp and Grits, a New Orleans classic. No need to say more. Dinner: Currently my favorite appetizer is the FREE FORM CRAB RAVIOLO with shiitake mushrooms, spinach, mascarpone, citrus buerre blanc. It melts in your mouth. The raviolo is so delicate. My favorite Entree is the BLACK DRUM JUBILEE. Gulf shrimp, oysters, jumbo lump crab, sweet corn, stewed okra & tomatoes, and topped with a crab-fat butter crostini. My cocktail of choice is the FATA…

    Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse

A New Orleans staple, Ruth’s Christ Steakhouse is know for its butter steaks and extremely hot plates. I remember growing up, going to “Ruth’s Chris,” as the locals call it, at least once a month. I am not only a meat eater, I am a red meat lover. The bloodier the better! If you’re ever in New Orleans, you must go. If you’re looking for a scene the Ruth’s Chris bar is the place to be on Fulton Street Downtown. It is full service and has a very appealing appetizer. If you want a quieter and more intimate setting, go to the Ruth’s Chris in Metairie. Not only does it have…

    A Bad Mopho

Having great food is one thing, donating to a great cause while serving delicious plates is another! Mopho is the place to try! I tried the Crispy Chicken Wings and Brussels Sprouts. Both $5 and definitely filling. The Chicken Wings had a teriyaki glaze that is simply perfect. The wings themselves are huge! The Brussels were charred on the outside but tender on the inside with a slight smokey flavor. I also tried the Guns + Roses bubble tea with strawberry, orange, and rose water– very refreshing.  The Mocho bubble tea with iced coffee, condensed milk, and chocolate was also pretty good. You can  these straight up or add the suggested spirits to…
