A Truth About Anxiety

Things have been hectic. For me busy is good. I need a focus to keep myself in the right place especially with my anxiety. But, In everything else going well, I haven’t been able to post much. This month is Mental Health and Wellness Awareness, so I want to keep steady with the content because a regular schedule is helpful when dealing with mental health.

As I get older, I am very aware of how I respond to different triggers after years of suppressing my feelings and using nonhelpful coping mechanisms. Now, I try holistic approaches to dealing with these stressors now like deep breathing, getting out of my box for a walk, a workout, detoxing. And while these are helpful most of the time, there are still moments when it isn’t enough. I disconnect and slowly feel myself slipping into a hole of despair. That feeling is crimpling and I have to work extra hard to not stay in that place.

For me I use it as a time to remind myself that we all need help, no matter how strong we are. It helps me think of others who may need my strength because they too are in a low place. I have learned that envy is ignorance. And we all need to be thankful in where we are currently in our journey.

Mental Health is not a diagnosis with a linear path to wellness. It is an ongoing exercise of discipline and vulnerability. We must accept its challenge and continue to evolve as it does. We may find ourselves needing more TLC or less structure in life and that’s fine because of journey’s are own. So, they will vary like of personalities.

Truth in Anxiety

I encourage you to listen to your inner strength and know that even though those anxieties, triggers, panics, episodes, etc. feel debilitating, they are attempting to teach you something.

We have existed for thousands of years because of our fight or flight responses. Fear and anxiety are what keeps us alert to the dangers of our surroundings. We are alive because of it, and it’s manifesting to you differently. Learn to focus it healthily from a professional therapist, a doctor, or a disciplined approach. But know there is some truth from where there are issues come.
