Accepting Help

In our quest to conquer the rest of the year with no apologizes and in a healthy mindset, we have to get accustom to accepting help. We live in a society that tells us to go, go, go! And we have to do so unapologetically and independently. That is a sure way to get burned out!

To alleviate stress, get used to asking for assistance. We usually think we are burdening other people by asking for aid but in general, people want to help. If you continue to put good energy out, and do things the with best intentions, people will not think twice when you need help.

I was not a person to quickly accept help. Then something happen when I did not have a choice but to accept the help. There is something scary about being valunerable. It allows us to face of flaws and we learn who is really there for us.

This reminded me of a time in college when I injured my knee and had no choice but to depend on people to get to class, appointments, and do daily tasks I did without thought. It was a humbling experience. And every now and again we need those.

Accepting help allows us to reserve energy for our life marathon. We need the strength it provides in allowing someone to share a burden with us.
