Working Through the Growth

Salamander Resort and Spa

I’m back! Last week I didn’t do any blog posts, and I felt terrible about it at first. The whole purpose of this blog was to destigmatize mental health issues and promote a place of freedom and working through the growth.

Mental health is not just the extreme cases of depression and suicidal thoughts we usually hear about. Mental health is a broad umbrella of all stressors. That includes anxiety, stress migraines, worry, mental fatigue, and all the other little small things that we convince ourselves to push through because it’s not that bad.

The point that we forget is they’re only not bad if we take care of those things immediately which often times we don’t because they’re “small.” And eventually, they build up inside to the point of chronic stress and mental exhaustion and breakdown.

Well, I felt myself getting to that point. Building a business, keeping up a blog with original content, and managing everyday life is not the glamour that people believe it to be. Its grueling hours, many meetings, and consistent trial and errors– many, many errors. And we work through the growth for delayed gratification.

So I called my best friend and hit the road. I got away from my usual schedule. I neglected tasks that weren’t imperative to complete keep. And that included my blog.

It’s like the instructions flight attendants give on the plane. Secure your mask first before you assist others. What a great time to be selfish. And being selfish allows you to be secure to help others around you. If you neglect your well being, you cannot continue to help those around you.
