Creative Retreat in NYC

New York is the city that never sleeps—we know—so, you can get a great time in full of variety in 24 hours or less. I needed a creative reboot. Mundane marketing campaigns were draining me creatively and I was longing for a surge of artist appreciations and NYC never fails me.

Rise and Shine

Byrant Park, NYC

My day began in Bryant Park where I was able to grab an overpriced latte (c’mon we’re in NYC after all) and a croissant. People watching was my task for the first hour. I watched them work, laugh, and move; children laughed with parents on the carousel and I smelled the warmth of the sun peek through the trees. My mind was open just to be and take in the world around me. I focused on not thinking about anything.

After breakfast, I headed to my artistic date with two amazing creative, Karleen and Christina, both event planners. We went to the Rose Mansion which is an interactive art installation. Over 13 rooms, a ball pit, and 5 glasses of wine, and 1000s of pictures later, we sat with a cheese tray (of course, more rose) and talked about how we each were going to alter our worlds for the better.

Good Eats

Once I left my group feeling inspired, I met a friend from college for brunch at the most live eating venue I’ve ever been to. It was like eating through a party. And for dessert, a trip to the Cupcake Market was delightful more ways than one.

Celeb Face Cookies – Cupcake market, NYC

Cupcake Market paints famous faces on their cookies, but they’re so delicious you torn between enjoying the work of art or admiring it. Their chocolate chip cookies are amazing! The chips melt in your mouth, the outside is slightly country, but the inside is south like a biscuit, not too sweet. Perfect!

Nightlife

My stay at The Bryant Park Hotel was cozy and the best part of it was the exclusive lounge built underneath it. Staying at a boutique hotel is a great way to see something inspiring and feel something new.

I left my trip rejuvenated ready to work and do something new. We need to get away and experience new, inspiring things. I wish you well on your next creatively rejuvenating getaway.
