Vancouver Art Gallery

Vancouver Art Gallery had a great exhibit recently centered around the architecture of a variety of dwellings. While it sounds a bit lackluster, architecture has always been interesting to me. Growing up in historic cities like New Orleans and Washington, DC will do it to you.

I saw great ideas for sustainable housing ideas for the homeless, creative designs for the wilderness lodgers, and homes literally created out of the earth that surrounded them. It really gave me a new perspective, forced me to look at things outside of the norm. The rugged aesthetics weren’t my first choice of a Saturday exploration, but I’m glad I went.

Sustainable Living Pods

Often, we write things off before we even give it a chance. Honestly, I left the museum when I heard about the exhibit only to come back because I still had time to kill. I spent more time between the exhibit and the gift shop than my other stops along the way I thought I was more excited about.

You’ll be surprised at the things you’ll find yourself enjoying if you just give it a chance—something I promised myself I will do more of this year.
