A Week of Solidarity

This week is dedicated to solidarity with the people struggling against racism and discrimination. Racism and discrimination affect us all. Between the media, everyday trials, and our relation to those around us.

It is no surprise that no matter how much the current president tries to deny the growing prevalence of white supremacy in the world, it is waging war all around us. No longer all these issues just in America. Muslims are the latest to be attacked in their place of peace or worship; like so many black churches around America with the same terroristic motivates. It’s devastating to think about.

Discrimination is happening in all forms, and for most of us, our intersectionality allows us to experience multiple types of discrimination daily. It’s exhausting, discouraging, and even some times defeating. But we cannot let it keep us down.

We must stand up for injustices when we see it anywhere. Stand up to your coworkers, friends, and families. Do it for our neighbors, friends, and strangers who may not always be able to do it for themselves.

Dr, King said, “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” And we need to know that, Injustice is all about power. There will never be enough power to conquer for those using injustice to control others. The yearning for control comes from insecurities and ignorance. The world does better if we can all operate more cohesively and with an open mind.

Help lessen the strain of mental issues with people going through these problems and those witnessing them. So, this week speak up for yourself, and for those around you.
